Installation

Brainwrite 2.0 runs on macOS 12 or later, on Apple silicon and Intel Macs.

Each link downloads the latest published build.

Not sure which Mac you have? Open the Apple menu → About This Mac. A chip named Apple M1 or later is Apple silicon; a processor named Intel is Intel.

Open the downloaded .dmg and drag Brainwrite to your Applications folder. Brainwrite keeps itself up to date after that; see Updates.

Sign in

Brainwrite asks you to sign in the first time it opens.

1. Enter your email address and choose Email me a code.
2. Enter the 8-digit code from the email and choose Verify and continue.

There is no password. The same email signs you in on every Mac you use and on Brainwrite Cloud.

Choose a plan

Brainwrite needs an active plan on your account. If your account does not have one yet, the app shows the plans after you sign in:

• Brainwrite Cloud, $99 a month: the desktop app plus your own always-on Cloud computer.
• Organisation, $750 a year: for teams that run Brainwrite on their own server.

Choose a plan to pay securely with Stripe in your browser, using the same email. While the plans are showing, the app checks every 10 seconds and opens by itself once the payment goes through; choose I've paid — check again to check straight away. Install an agent engine

Your bots run on the agent engines and AI accounts you already have, such as Claude Code or Codex. Brainwrite needs at least one installed and signed in.

1. Install the engine from its provider.
2. Run it once in Terminal and sign in.
3. Open Brainwrite and pick a model for a bot. Engines that are ready appear normally; the others explain what is missing.

Where your data lives

Brainwrite keeps your chats, bots and settings on your Mac, under ~/.brainwrite in your home folder.
